For this year's Eid afternoon teas we invited the children to assist with baking some lovely traditional treats. Our children enjoyed making 'Kaak El Abbas' and 'Atayef' and many discussions were had about making such delicious treats at home, with Mummy and Te Ta.
Our children made a wonderful ‘Eid Mubarak’ sign and it was lovely to see them all working collaboratively. Our Eid afternoon tea also provided a wonderful opportunity for educators/teachers to continue to develop relationships with families and increase our social connections. We really appreciate the time and support that our families dedicated to our preschool Eid celebration afternoon tea and are thankful to the families who contributed food for our Eid celebration. Acknowledging children’s own cultural practices and celebrations is a great way to promote the children’s sense of identity and increase their sense of belonging. We would like to continue to embrace your child/ren and family’s cultural background and practices within our preschool environment and curriculum, so please let us know what kind of cultural celebrations your family views as important, so that we can incorporate your family beliefs into our preschool.
