Our Woolworths Landcare Grant

We are the lucky recipients of were successful in applying for and receiving a Woolworths Landcare Grant. This grant provided our preschool with $1500 that we utilised to create a Native Garden, that complemented our existing vegetable and sensory gardens. These gardens assist our young learners to develop a growing understanding of how to engage with sustainable food production processes.   

We purchased items from Indigigrow, Mitre 10 and Bunnings. It was important for us to purchase from local community organisations. We have also purchased a bee hive from Billion Bees, although this is yet to arrive.

The children were involved in every part of the project. They used ICT to research native plants, bush tucker, insects, bee hives and the needs of bees. 
They selected a VegeTrug and worked carefully to build the vegetable garden . This assisted them to work collaboratively, take turns, engage in the use of tools (drill, screwdriver, hammer etc) and a range of other skills. 
Our young learners assisted with planting and took care to engage safely. They wore gloves and listened carefully to directions.
